Disney Vacation Club Contracts with Different Use Years

Disney Vacation Club Contracts with Different Use Years

A reader of DVC Report recently submitted a questions about owning DVC contracts with different use years.  Both of my contracts were bough resale, and although the reader initially bough her DVC contract direct, the issue is really the same. When buying a second DVC contract, is it important to have the same use year? There are different schools of thought on this, but I can certainly share my experience.

When I decided I was interested in buying a second DVC contract, I started looking though the available contacts on the resale market. I was looking for something at Boardwalk Villas and in the 100 to 200 point range. After keeping my eye out for some time, I believed I had found the perfect contract. The right amount of points and in my price range. Because Boardwalk Villas is an older DVC resort and a popular one, there really weren’t that many contracts coming available. I spoke with the agent at the resale company and did ask about the use year different in the contract we wanted to buy and the contract we currently owned. He told me not to worry, that you can combine points to make a reservation, etc. So we went ahead and signed the contract.

When is the Best Time to Buy DVC Resale Points?

When is the Best Time to Buy DVC Resale Points?

I own two Disney Vacation Club contracts, one at Animal Kingdom Villas and one at Boardwalk Villas. Both of these contracts were purchased via the resale market, one with Fidelity Resales and the other with The Timeshare Store. For both the Animal Kingdom Villas contract and the Boardwalk Vilals contract we signed the paperwork in mid December, with the closings happening in January or February. Prior to purchasing both contracts, I did do some informal research on the best time of the year to buy. Thanks to Paul from Fidelity Resales for emailing me about their blog post on the agency’s official research on just this topic.

DVC Boardwalk Villas Standard Studio Views

DVC Boardwalk Villas Standard Studio Views

The standard view villas at Disney’s Boardwalk Villas are are a great value in my opinion. For a low points value, you can stay right in the heart of the action. Only a short walk to World Showcase at Epcot and a reasonable walk to Hollywood Studios, these villas have become my first choice of where to stay with my DVC points when I am looking for value.

I just returned from a week at Disneyworld and the Boardwalk Villas. I was excited to see how the DVC Polynesian Villas are coming along. You get a great view from the boat ride to the Magic Kingdom taken from the Transportation and Ticketing Center. From the Disney blog:

Favorite Disney Vacation Club Pins

Favorite Disney Vacation Club Pins

Have a favorite Disney Vacation Club pin? I was looking through my DVC pins as I prepare to leave for a Disneyworld trip at Boardwalk Villas this weekend. And this pin stuck out a my favorite. I true classic,, Steamboat Mickey, with Disney Vacation Club displayed underneath. I believe I received this pin during a May 2014 Disney Dream cruse to the Bahamas. At the Disney Vacation Club member gathering they mentioned that if you stop by the DVC desk each day, you’ll receive a special treat. And a new pin was the special gift each day I remembered to stop by.
